What you’ll be responsible for


Support the operation of the water logistics team in the safest and most cost-effective way, capturing data and applying procedures in a compliant manner, whilst putting our customers at the heart of everything you do.  This will include:


  1. Ensuring you comply with all company Health and Safety Procedures, with the safety of yourself, colleagues, contractors and customers always in mind. 
  2. Providing and identifying better ways of delivering excellent service to internal and external customers/Stakeholders, owning the problem through to completion as far as practicable in order to satisfy regulatory requirements and achieving our customer led success strategy.
  3. Supporting the Water Logistics Team in delivering an efficient and effective 24/7 service with no avoidable failures in service delivery, this may be via shift work or standby rota.
  4. Liaising with service providers to deploy manpower, vehicles and equipment to ensure a seamless service to customers 24/7, with no avoidable failures in service delivery. Work closely with other teams to minimise the impact on customers and return to normal service as soon and as efficiently as possible.
  5. Organising and manage logistics activities during events/incidents and planned work e.g. deployment of plant, ensure shift patterns are in place for drivers etc.
  6. Managing tankering activities to comply with Tankering Best Practice and Hygienic Practices.
  7. Ensuring procedures and activities undertaken comply with all Health and Safety legislation and DCWW Health & Safety policies in maintaining a safe working environment.
  8. Planning and deploying the appropriate manpower, vehicles, plant and equipment as appropriate to the operational incident e.g. overland mains, pumps and generators
  9. Making arrangements with external suppliers for additional resources e.g. drivers, vehicles and any other equipment required.
  10. Ensuring the use of contract drivers complies with all company procedures
  11. Initial response to ensure compliance to all company compliance targets, CML times
  12. Completing hand over instruction on use of any equipment delivered
  13. Working with team members to recover and maintain equipment in readiness for future incidents
  14. Maintaining Vehicles, Plant and Equipment in a state of readiness and in accordance with company and legislative requirements and to provide a professional image for customers including routine chlorination of emergency equipment e.g. bowsers, hoses etc
  15. Carrying out routine daily checks on vehicles in order to comply with Road Traffic Act requirements and to ensure compliance with DCWW Operators Licence.  Accurately report and record defects. Record nil defects and action defects immediately. Understand servicing and plating issues so that it is known when equipment will be unavailable.
  16. Assisting in the identification of hazards and work to reduce these hazards.
  17. Ensure compliance with the company H&S policy including lone working.
  18. Whilst this job description reflects the main accountabilities for the role there may be occasions where you will be required to carry out any other activities in line with the needs of the Company.

About you


All criteria is essential unless otherwise stated:


Knowledge, skills and experience

Possess a Class C & E driving licence (HGV Class 1)
Experience with reactive logistic operations 
An understanding of Health and Safety Procedures related to Water Network and the equipment used within the Water Logistics
The knowledge and competency to utilise all vehicles and equipment held within the Water Logistics Function.
Experience within the Water Industry specifically tankering operations - Desirable
Good Interpersonal Skills e.g. building a rapport, listening effectively to others 
Evident drive for results – demonstrates interest and ability to learn new things, takes initiative, welcomes problems as challenges, finds solutions to problems
Excellent problem solving skills.
Good communication skills e.g. clear and concise 
IT Skills including Microsoft Office packages
Ability to work flexibly
