What you'll do
  • Maintaining, repairing and installing equipment as part of the main MEI teams, working individually or as part of a team. 
  • Fault-finding; rectifying problems with electrical systems and all ancillary equipment. 
  • Installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems generally.
  • Reading, understanding and working from electrical drawings.
  • Maintaining, repairing and installing of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation to ensure performance of all assets.
  • Actively taking part in Risk Assessment, COSHH assessment and all related Health and Safety issues.
  • Identifying problematic plant and the subsequent faults and taking part in finding efficient solutions to return equipment to working order.
  • Identifying requirements of spares and materials using preferred suppliers.
  • Completing all job cards and timesheets to allow for monitoring of workload, performance etc.
  • Providing knowledge and information and providing on-site support for Welsh Water capital teams and operational teams.
  • Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
What you'll need

Essential:

  • Full UK Driving Licence 
  • Fully qualified electrician
  • Experience
  • Knowledge & Skills
  • Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day
  • Compliance with 17th Edition IEE regulations
  • The ability to develop positive working relationships and to be seen as a highly credible representative of the team is required for this role
  • An excellent understanding of planning and scheduling of work processes

Desirable:

  • Trained to undertake High Voltage work
  • Experience of the water industry
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Welsh
Good to know
  • Successful candidate will be expected to undertake operational standby following period of training, familiarisation and competence assessment.
  • Also would need to live within 1hr travel time of base location (or move to area within 6 months of start date).

Permanent Contracts
•    Successful completion of six months probationary period plus a further six months’ service in their first role with Welsh Water
•    12 months’ service in current role if not still in their first role with DCWW
Fixed- Term Contracts
•    Be within 2 months from the end of their fixed-term contract
