Description

We are seeking an experienced Manager for the Electrical Networks Resource team focused on delivering utility services, to lead and coordinate the group within our Distribution networks business at La Collette. This key leadership role ensures efficient resource planning and provides strong technical support to project and industrial teams. It also handles personnel allocation for diverse construction and service activities. 

The role plays a vital part in supporting Jersey Electricity's delivery of crucial services across our distribution network that includes, distribution substations, network pillars, complete cable network and over 55,000 service and metering points.

You will provide workforce planning expertise, handle resource demands across multiple departments, and lead all aspects of performance, training, continuous improvement and providing engineering leadership and guidance within the team while ensuring the highest H&S standards are delivered. This is a highly impactful role. It requires strong engineering and leadership skills, analytical ability, and a customer-focused attitude. The role also needs the capability to drive operational excellence throughout the delivery system area. Whilst insuring technical and legal compliance to regulation/laws are met and that the team has the appropriate policy, procedures & work practices in place.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Electrical Networks Resource team responsible for the distribution network to ensure efficient, professional and customer focused planning and prioritisation across all projects.
  • Ensure Allocate resources and assign appropriate personnel to project tasks, ensuring accurate planning and full utilisation of field staff.
  • Lead team performance, weekly scheduling and capacity planning, ensuring efficiencies, productive deployment of staff and oversight of training, apprentices and development activities.
  • Collaborate with Construction, Planning, Metering and internal/external partners to understand current and future business needs, applying research and industry knowledge to drive efficiency.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships that support continuous personal and team development (CPD).
  • Forecast resource requirements for upcoming projects, resolve resource conflicts, and ensure that project needs are supported across all departments.
  • Analyse target metrics to identify lost or unproductive time and drive efficiencies through process improvements and reporting.
  • Assist in the development of Energy Division procedures related to distribution network, Construction and Resource teams, ensuring they are understood, implemented and continuously improved.
  • Ensure full compliance with HS&E requirements, Distribution Safety Rules, company procedures and best industry practice, maintaining accurate and auditable records.
  • Promote and deliver excellent customer service across all team activities.



Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Strong leadership and performance management skills.
  • Practical knowledge of distribution network design and utility operational principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capability.
  • Effective interpersonal and team building skills.
  • High level of customer service focus.
  • Strong IT proficiency and familiarity with digital planning tools.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in resource management, business administration, organisational development, supply chain, or similar Preferably within an electricity utilities environment.
  • Experience working with operational or field-based teams and understanding of workforce deployment.
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent professional experience).
  • IOSH Managing Safely and HS&E training suitable for higher risk environments.
  • Clean driving licence.
  • PRINCE2 or equivalent project management training (desirable).
  • Utility operational authorisation (desirable).
  • Professional, approachable, supportive and diligent.
  • Collaborative team player with strong communication skills.
