Do you want to work in a diverse team, with colleagues who have previously had their work on Open Innovation presented at the UN Global Compact and at MIT business school, worked with Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button at McLaren F1- helping them win 13 F1 GP races, or won the National Technology and British Data Awards?

Do you want to be part of one of the UKs "Best Companies" to work and feeling like joining a close knit, supportive, dynamic, agile analytics start-up? Are you motivated to constantly improve and do better at the same time as being a supportive, challenging friend to the business, thinking creatively, to bring new approaches, methods and ways of thinking to some of the industry's biggest problems?

Then this one might be for you.

Electric vehicles, solar farms, wind turbines; it's our infrastructure that enables these assets to connect and power the UK's low carbon transition and we need your help to accelerate our digital capabilities and solutions so we can do more.

We are on an exciting journey here at UK Power Networks, we're focusing on developing our ways of working, on changing the way the business works with data to help us strengthen our position as a leading and innovative company, globally.

As a Digital Business Partner, you will help deliver important business partnering activities to develop technology and digital business strategies across each directorate. You will enjoy collaborating with different partners to understand their most important challenges and help them build strategies to overcome them in the short term.

No line management responsibilities.

  • Take an active role in driving collaboration for Information Systems and other business teams to meet outcomes through digital and technology solutions.

  • Represent and advocate for the needs of Information Systems to influence digital transformation.

  • Nurture specific relationships within Information Systems and other business teams and help communication between the two.

  • Create collaborative digital/business strategies that allow the connection between digital solutions and business need.

  • Proactively identifying, capturing and presenting specific business needs at triage board in regards to digital and technology solutions.

  • Ensure important partners are aware of their actions to drive progress and meet objectives, holding them to account where needed.

  • Identify and raise potential risks and continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Conduct analysis of business processes and customer journeys (including associated business systems) to identify areas of opportunity for improvement.

The Digital Team is a new function within the UK's largest electricity district network operator. Our remit is wide ranging, covering all teams and departments within a business which compromises customer satisfaction, regulatory restrictions and KPIs, asset management, field operations, HR, Finance and much more.

We are NOT a traditional Digital team. Most people see us as an internal consulting team or a start-up. We are close knit, supportive, dynamic and work in agile ways. We are big on feedback and motivated to constantly improve and do better. Our mandate is to be a supportive, challenging friend to the business, thinking creatively, to bring new approaches, methods and ways of thinking to some of the industry's biggest problems.

We are encouraged to innovate, with the only prescriptions being that we can 1) Measure the scale of an improvement should the recommended actions be undertaken and 2) Achieve business support for implementing those recommendations. You will help us realise this.

We are accountable in supporting the business in achieving its vision of becoming an 'employer of choice', 'a respected corporate citizen', 'sustainably cost efficient' and 'enabling the Net Zero transition for all'.

Within the utilities sector we are a leader winning a trio of awards at the industry's Utility Week Awards including; the Diversity Award, the Staff Development Award and the Digital Transformation Award.

More specifically the Digital Business Partnering Team acts as the conduit and critical friend representing both Information Systems and the business teams we work with. It's our role to help business leaders and their teams to think strategically about their digital and technology needs, to connect the dots between new, planned and live projects and lead overall visibility of changes being suggested or made to our digital and technology landscape.

As a new team we have the opportunity to shape what Digital Business Partnering means at UKPN, create the tools and ways of working that we need to be successful and drive collaborative working across functions.

Roles like this, supported and backed at the highest levels of an organisation with substantial scope, do not come up very often, so we're looking for the right fit for the team - intuition and initiative, pride in the quality of work, and an understanding that 'how' you work is just as important as 'what' you're working on.

Key Relational Skills Required:

  • Develop relationships that promote trust and collaboration.

  • Frame discussions strategically and connect dots for business leaders that might not be obvious.

  • Synthesise discussions both in the moment and retrospectively to demonstrate engagement.

  • Place discussions in business context to help build trust, engagement and advocacy.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with people throughout the hierarchy.

Other Skills:

  • MS Office suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

  • Experience with project management tools such as, Atlassian etc. and advantage but not essential.

  • Important skills and attributes are more critical than previous job related experience as this role can be relevant for people from many different career routes.

  • It is important to have experience working with multiple partner groups across projects, including senior business leaders.

  • Experience in the utility or manufacturing sector is advantageous but not essential.

  • 1+ years experience in business partnering, business analysis or strategic consulting is advantageous.

  • Bachelor's degree or professional equivalent e.g. CIMA

We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, colour, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender, gender identity or expression, or veteran status. We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
