We are currently looking for a Development Manager to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis and help us develop and deliver a range of new service contracts.

The Role

As a Development Manager, you will play a fundamental role in developing and implementing new service contracts for municipal treatment procurements.

In this key role, you will develop, negotiate, agree and implement new service contracts and occasionally assist with collection and recycling service contracts. This will include handling pre-qualification stages, restricted tender processes, procurement and, where appropriate, negotiating contracts and/or extensions to contracts

You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, including Heads of Regional Development, Regional Operation Managers and other departments such as Estates, SHEQ, Engineering, Legal, Finance and Operations.

Additionally, you will:

- Produce detailed service designs and/or solutions for individual projects
- Manage and monitor the development and preparation of project delivery plans, tender proposals and contract documentation
- Prepare, submit and present project development documentation/papers for approval
- Supervise and manage project and/or programme teams

About You

To join us as a Development Manager, you will need:

- Experience in a similar role with a proven track record of delivering projects and/or programmes in excess of £2m CapEx (capital expenditure)
- At least five years’ experience in an organisation with a professional and disciplined approach to project development, preferably within a waste management environment
- Previous experience and track record in the successful delivery of project development programmes, including time, budget and specification
- Experience and qualifications, in the application of sound project development and project management techniques
- Experience in the preparation of project proposals (technical, financial and legal) and documentation to a high standard
- Commercially aware with strong profit orientation
- Strong people skills with the ability to develop and motivate a widespread and multi-disciplined team
- The ability to develop successful relationships with local authorities and governing bodies
- Experience using MS Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint
- To be highly educated
