As a Demand & Capacity Planning Expert, you will lead on creating and implementing a best practice approach to demand and capacity planning and analysis for a large organisational transformation. You will define and deliver the demand and capacity changes required to embed a continuous process of demand forecasting, analysis and review. This will enable clear decision making and action to balance workload and resources as early as possible, in a consistent manner across the long and short term. This will allow the operational business to be less reactive and for greater coordination, consistency and control in managing demand through to planning and scheduling, jeopardy management and work execution.
In particular, you will lead the design, development and implementation of a holistic demand and capacity planning solution covering workload and resource forecasting; demand scenario forecasting; establishing the required business as usual governance mechanisms; the setup of repeatable processes for reviewing, updating and approving forecasts, workload options and action plans across all required planning horizons. This is expected to include a decision matrix across all of the work types in scope in order to determine and agree on the current priorities, tolerances, governance and operational execution.
You will also lead the requirements definition, design and implementation of any IT systems required to support demand forecasting, planning, modelling and analysis. The demand and capacity planning solution will be developed and delivered through a series of pilots to iteratively establish a consistent and coherent way of working on a day to day basis.
This role will sit within the ‘Desk’ Workstream as part of the Water Networks Transformation Programme. It will engage other workstreams in the Water Networks Transformation Programme and stakeholders working in operational workload demand, capacity planning and insights, planning and scheduling, alongside other inputs to the process such as asset management and customer contact triage.
The role holder helps to ensure that the delivery outcomes of the Water Networks Transformation Programme ‘Desk’ Workstream are met and that an enduring solution is put in place for demand and capacity planning across the water networks organisation.To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

- Experience of working in a high-performance demand and capacity team
- Experience of leading new demand and capacity solutions, processes and governance changes
- Experience of working within a regulated utilities, manufacturing, telco or logistics environment
- Ability to interpret complex data and produce demand forecasting models and dashboards
- Proven ability to utilise governance forums to good effect; enabling desired outcomes
- Evidence of bringing structure to unstructured environments
- Highly numerate with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, tailored to the stakeholder audience
- Highly experienced in Excel and other data visualisation tools e.g. Power BI, SQL., Tableau
- Strong business skills and commercial acumen
