Job Purpose

 

The Decision Support Analyst’s role is to support the development, configuration and embedment of the various asset lifecycle management systems and processes. The role requires some familiarity with asset management principles; knowledge of water, wastewater and bioresource assets and systems is desirable. The role also assists in the specification, development, configuration and testing of new system functionality and business processes identified from across the business or from external stakeholders. Managing, manipulating, analysing, interpreting and presenting large data sets are essential parts of this role.

 

Job Accountabilities

 
  • To work with third party suppliers delivering consultancy or software enhancements to the asset management systems;
  •            
  • To assist with the specification, testing and deploying of new requirements from the user community or other stakeholders within the existing systems;
  •            
  • To assist with the specification of any new asset management systems;
  •            
  • To assist the ALS team managers in ensuring that all asset risk and investment prioritisation systems are aligned and/or integrated appropriately with other corporate systems;
  •            
  • To support strategy managers, strategic asset managers, risk managers and risk analysts to ensure that needs and risks are captured and assessed appropriately within the asset management system;
  •            
  • To act as an approachable point of contact for users of the asset management system;
  •            
  • To support communication to continuously improve the use of the asset management systems within UU; and
  •            
  • To provide expert analysis and reporting from the asset management system.
 

Knowledge and Skills

 
  • Awareness of financial, environmental and sustainability drivers in the water industry;
  •            
  • Well developed analytical reasoning and problem solving skills to present complex data simply;
  •            
  • Experience in supporting team members in using new tools and processes
  •            
  • Personal drive and motivation to achieve challenging goals;
  •            
  • Experience in successfully managing a complex personal workload with multiple deliverables;
  •            
  • Proven ability to communicate technical knowledge effectively;
  •            
  • Knowledge of database development, design and use including some SQL capability
  •            
  • An understanding of the company’s asset management and other corporate systems
  •            
  • Knowledge of the water industry regulatory framework
  •            
  • Experience of asset deterioration and other risk modelling techniques
  •            
  • Experience of Python, SQL or other data centric programming languages;
