Use tech and data to power a smarter grid

Our Data Protection Graduate Programme offers an exciting opportunity to build a strong foundation in data governance within the energy sector. You’ll gain exposure to key areas such as data privacy compliance, information security, regulatory frameworks (including GDPR), and risk management.

Throughout the programme, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals to support the development and implementation of data protection strategies across the business. You’ll also contribute to projects involving data lifecycle management, incident response management, and policy development, helping to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of critical data.

This hands-on experience will equip you with the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to thrive in the fast-evolving world of data protection within the electricity industry.

What you’ll be doing

  • Map and catalogue data across the business
  • Help develop and monitor data protection policies
  • Support incident response and risk assessments
  • Work on digital projects like cloud migration and automation
  • Raise awareness and support training around data privacy
  • Collaborate with teams across IT, legal, operations, and engineering

What you’ll bring

  • A 2:2 or above in Law, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Business/Management Information Systems or similar
  • Interest in data privacy, digital ethics, and sustainability
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • A driving licence (or working towards it)

What’s in it for you

  • Experience across the full data lifecycle—from acquisition to disposal
  • Opportunities to work on GDPR compliance and cybersecurity initiatives
  • Support toward qualifications like CIPP/E, ISO/IEC 27001, or CISMP
  • A career path in data governance, privacy consultancy, or risk management
  • A chance to help build a secure and sustainable energy future
  • Gain hands-on experience across both our office and site environments. While training is primarily office or site-based, you’ll enjoy increasing flexibility as you move beyond the programme and into your career
