About the Role

 

We are currently looking for skilled Cyber & Control System Technicians across the East and the West of the UK to join our operations team.  

 

You will be providing technical support and assurance in developing, evaluating, delivering and assuring engineering and asset solutions for activities associated with operational technologies (OT) and cyber disciplines associated with Gas Transmission plant and equipment to meet legislative requirements (in particular Network and Information Systems (NIS) Regulations) and company objectives; whilst maintaining the system capability required to satisfy customer needs and any stakeholder requirements. 

 

You’ll be supporting with the operation and maintenance of our Above ground Installations (AGI’s) and compressor stations which includes aeroderivative gas turbine machinery trains, centrifugal compressors and associated plant and equipment. 

 

These activities are associated with a range of asset technologies and disciplines, Turbine Control and Protection Systems, Gas Quality and Metering Systems, Fire and Gas, Telemetry, General Instrumentation and Control including Functional Safety Lifecycle Management and Human Factors support.

 

This is a key position in supporting the maintenance and project delivery support on the above-mentioned equipment, which will in turn ensure our high-pressure National Transmission System (NTS) is protected and maintained to the highest possible standards.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Support maintenance activities including inspection and repair of relevant equipment.
  • Supporting the delivery of our Cyber capital project works by being a part of and supporting the construction and commissioning of new assets onto the gas transmission system.
  • First line cyber assurance – asset management registers, back up registers and business continuity plans being maintained and up to date. 
  • Develop Back-up processes and procedures –Local work instructions need to be developed, standardised and tested, including those with Post Delivery Support Agreement (PDSA) providers. 
  • Provide user feedback for Cyber and control systems projects from inputting to scope through the project delivery Lifecyle (e.g TTL type project).
  • Cyber advocates – partake in business change activities, rollout within Ops.
  • Incident response – trained up as first line response to cyber, including IDS. The ability to capture logs, complete malware sweeps etc and work with the forensics teams. 
  • Decommissioning - 3rd party comms and redundant assets supported by Engineering and Asset Management (EAM) teams.
  • Maintain accurate site records of maintenance, asset, operational and safe system of work for all work activities and operations undertaken, to ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify the requirement to replace/upgrade existing plant and equipment as well as participating in the design of minor modifications, and the provision of technical support within discipline and competencies as required.
  • Undertake site operations, including isolations and the use of our safe system of work to support the delivery of Cyber project works and other routine activities.
  • Contribute to the development, review and update of emergency, security, safety, operational and environmental plans and procedures to ensure safe and cost-effective operation of plant and equipment.
  • Oversee and inspect work activities undertaken by contractors and working party members where required to provide assurance that technical and safety compliance standards are being maintained and undertaken.
  • Ensure that the high-pressure pipeline system is protected, undertaking the competent person role associated with routine and low complex non-routine operational procedures.

We are looking for a time-served technician, who has a working knowledge of legislative requirements and a proven background with electrical, control system and cyber security equipment. You’ll be someone who has had exposure within a maintenance/operations environment.

 

You’ll be a safety conscious individual, allowing you to work as part of a wider team and alone when required, to ensure we are working as effectively as possible. Someone who can communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders whilst maintaining a proactive and customer driven outlook within a fast-paced and varied environment.

Qualifications:

  • Time served technician with SVQ/NVQ or HNC qualification (or equivalent) in the relevant discipline and/or relevant operational experience
  • Compex training would be advantageous
  • Trained in 18th Edition would also be advantageous
  • Knowledge of a variety of control system types would be advantageous

 

Travel and some overnight stays will be required, therefore a full valid UK driving licence is essential.
