Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Control Engineer to join Team JE, specialising in electricity, distribution networks. The ideal candidate will be an authority in managing planned and fault operations and coordinating with collaborators to maintain security of supply whilst upholding Jersey Electricity's (JE) safety protocols.
The team you'd join sits at the heart of Jersey Electricity, keeping the lights on and this role is key to the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
This role provides opportunities to develop skills further for operation of the transmission network and generation plant.

Key Responsibilities
- Day to day responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the networks at all levels.
- Approve and run switching programmes for planned work ensuring continuity of supply and compliance with safety protocols.
- Carry out high voltage switching operations
- Coordinate fault operations on low and high voltage networks, providing real-time decision making and support, minimising the effect to customers.
- Authorise and record the issue of safety documents to ensure all works are carried out in accordance with procedures.
- Collaborate for network modelling and customer service improvements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Skills:
- Understand JE Safety Rules & relevant Procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective interpersonal and team building abilities.
- Customer orientated with IT proficiency.
- Proactive, decisive, and adaptable in demanding situations.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of LV, HV and EHV networks and associated protection systems.
- Good understanding principles of active and reactive power flow, and voltage regulation.
- Principles of network operations and planning processes
Expertise:
- Min C&G (Level 3) in Electrical Distribution and working towards HNC.
- Relevant H&S qualification - i.e. IOSH managing safely
- Experience as a Control Engineer on electricity distribution systems is desirable or alternatively experience as working as an Authorised or Senior Authorised Person.
- Experience in the planning, construction and maintenance of electrical distribution networks
- Full clean driving license
