Base location – Barnsley

Here's what you will be doing

As part of the role you will ensure all delivery activity is managed and executed in a safe manner meeting the company’s  time, cost and quality objectives along with internal and external environmental legislation & standards.

With your people management skills you will manage the contract managers, technical, supervisory and general staff, monitoring and improving performance using the  performance management process ensuring objectives and behaviours are set, reviewed and signed off accordingly.

You will align to Lighting & Grid’s strategic and sustainable growth plan, assisting the Regional Manager to develop a budget and associated business plan for the growth of the area, monitoring progress against targets and initiating corrective action.

 

Main Responsibilities of the role

  • To develop and maintain key customer relationships and accounts (Existing & New).
  • To develop and promote a culture of commitment to well being, lead by example.
  • Ensure employee attendance is managed in line with the established procedures.
  • Support the development and training plan process to meet the requirement of the business.
  • Work with other Lighting and Grid Managers to promote an environment which strives for continuous improvement and the implementation of best practice.
  • To understand and implement all potential synergies between depots within the North Region New Business Department.


What we need from you
  • Proven ability to simultaneously manage a number of operational depots covering diverse activities.
  • An understanding of the electrical engineering, technical and operational requirements relevant to the  activity.
  • A strong track record of delivery of performance targets, including finance, customer service.
  • Personal drive and the ability to motivate others.
  • An understanding of management accounting and demonstrate ability to forecast, manage and monitor the team budget, including identification of opportunities to deliver increased value and/or make budget savings.
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of relevant health and safety responsibilities with a detailed knowledge of Utility site safety procedures and ideally have a recognised safety qualification e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH.
  • Manage business risks and organisation reputation effectively through regular assessment and management of risks and issues.
  • Lead, motivate and manage the team to meet operational requirements and manage performance that inspires excellence in terms of customer and commercial focus and innovative solutions. 
  • Provide support to team members in line with HR policy and procedures.
  • Manage team and individual development through effective performance management including objective setting, regular feedback and review.
  • Ensure development plans are in place and delivered.
  • Manage people processes ensuring effective use of information channels such as HR.Online and compliance with policy, contractual agreements and defined processes.
  • Manage, monitor and improve (if applicable) attendance in line with agreed targets.
  • Must have a full valid driving licence.
