We have an exciting opportunity for you to contribute to modernizing and developing our Sewage Treatment Works in London and our Home Counties. As our successful candidate, you will play a central role in ensuring that we can continue to provide life's essential services and protect our environment through our Sewage Treatment Plants.

What you’ll be doing as a Construction Engineer
  • Supporting essential design and delivery reviews, identifying risks and issues, and working with stakeholders to resolve them.
  • Carry out health and safety audits to ensure relevant issues are corrected.
  • Focussed on the construction phase of projects, assessing and reporting project progress, acting to rectify issues, and taking the lead on the escalation process if necessary. Also, ensure all non-conformance is identified and corrected.
  • Managing identification and resolution of snags and after Take Over liaising with Operators and contractors to handle the defects and aftercare process’ and performance testing.
  • Monitored, agreed on, and approved Takeover tests with the project team.
  • Ensure that the required project documentation meets our specifications and approve information for taking over.
  • Working as an active member of one or more project teams with one or more of our contractors.
Hybrid – East Hyde Sewage treatment works
As part of this role, you must be on site 3-4 days a week, 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
The successful candidate must drive; this role will come with a car allowance.
What you should bring to the role
  • Have an HNC or above in an appropriate engineering subject or background in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of health and safety on construction sites or holding of an SMSTS qualification; this can be offered as part of the role if the holder is not currently holding it.
  • Understand design, construction, and operations within industries like the water sector.
  • Have a background in project delivery within the construction sector.
  • Be confident in communicating with various levels of stakeholders.
  • Foster a positive Health and safety culture within the team and contractors, ensuring we assert all environmental and Health and safety statutory obligations.

  • Competitive salary from £40,000 to £60,000 per annum.
