Our Commercial and Performance Team (C&P) is key to delivering the RIIO-2 business plan, to achieve our goals of a transition to a sustainable future. Within the Commercial and Performance Department, we're responsible for Connections Compliance Reporting. Monitoring business performance, we review and challenge financial and non-financial performance to ensure progress toward business objectives and enable reporting on key performance indicators. Working closely with our colleagues in the Regulatory Team, we support SP Manweb's (SPM) regulatory reporting submissions, ensuring the business meets its regulatory commitments. With the opportunity to influence and interact across the connections business, this is an ideal role for someone who is analytical, commercial and data-minded.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide analysis and support developing, maintaining, and improving business processes, ensuring adherence to compliance and governance across Connections Business, promoting Operational Excellence.

  • Provision of timely, accurate and relevant reporting to provide commentary and insight on operational performance and potential impacts.

  • Provide support for Regulatory Reporting submissions to OFGEM to ensure robust and accurate cost and volume information is reported.

  • Ensure robustness and accuracy of data collection and reporting mechanisms are in place with thorough and carefully analysis and data assurance applied to meet all regulatory requirements. Work with all parts of Network Connections to ensure systems can provide the required support to actively manage regulatory and business requirements.

  • Carry out adhoc Regulatory and Commercial reporting on a weekly/monthly basis as directed by C&P Management.

  • Streamline current reporting processes and assist as required with data automation.

  • Provide support across C&P functions as directed.

  • Coaching/developing and mentoring the team to ensure business objectives are met.

  • People management responsibilities when required

What you'll bring

  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment. 

  • Strong problem-solving ability gained from previous analyst experience.

  • Quick thinker with strong attention to detail.

  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, able to influence and communicate well with multiple peer groups and varying levels of seniority.

  • Numerically articulate and commercially aware.

  • Ability to assimilate a large amount of complex, interlinked data and to make balanced decisions based on that data.

  • Proven ability to develop new ideas and creative solutions.

  • Organised multitasker, able to prioritise workload to meet deadlines, whilst achieving results.

  • People management experience - with a capability of communicating with all levels of the business in financial, technical and business terms.

  • Demonstrate an ability to work with, develop, coach and mentor others.

Minimum Criteria

  • Educated to Degree level or significant relevant experience in similar commercial / data science analyst positions 

  • Experience with Power BI or similar systems including data modelling and report production

  • Advanced level proficiency in Excel e.g. using functions such as formulae, linking data sources, Power Query and writing code. 

  • Experience of reporting within a regulated environment. 

  • Proven ability to develop new ideas and creative solutions.

  • Experience working in a role where you need to be organised, multitask and prioritise workload to meet deadlines and achieve results.

  • Experience of analysing complex data, identifying anomalies and providing guidance.

  • Previous experience of influencing and communicating with multiple peer groups and varying levels of seniority

  • Experience assimilating a large amount of complex, interlinked data and to make balanced decisions based on that data.
