Glasgow HQ
Salary ranges from £54,400 - £68,000, plus up to 20% Bonus

Corporate Procurement have responsibility for managing procurement activity in support of all corporate and business areas.

Working with the UK and Global Procurement teams and liaising closely with the SP Energy Networks business, the post holder will have a key role in managing purchasing activity to deliver operational efficiencies and deliver investments to key strategic projects.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, the post holder will:

 

  • Improve & strengthen the available supply chain for the specified business area
  • Advise business on supply chain activity and provide purchasing input to business contracting strategy
  • Ensure all purchasing activity within the designated category is carried out in line with internal and external legal, regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., EU Procurement Regulations, GDPR, Modern Slavery, Cyber Security and Business Separation requirements)
  • Provide a main point of contact and co-ordination for all purchasing activity within the designated category associated with key strategic projects and operational activity
  • Input to wider global procurement team to identify best practise and leverage global purchasing activity

 

What you'll be doing

 

The post holder will be expected to take the lead in delivering the procurement plan within their designated category. Driving a competitive environment to ensure that all operational and project related purchasing activity priorities can be met while optimising efficiency opportunities. 

The post holder particular accountabilities include:

 

  • Work with all major areas of the wider Iberdrola Group including their designated category, Credit Risk, Insurance, Compliance and Legal 
  • Work with the SP Energy Networks Project teams on their requirements and with the Engineering and Process team on the technical aspects and approvals
  • Interact with industry participants (including suppliers) to develop the supply chain for the specified category
  • Develop procurement strategies for category to drive competitive environment, efficiency in the procurement process and meet the business strategy
  • Co-ordinate purchasing activity with senior management with the designated business area to ensure activity will allow critical business deliverables to be met
  • Ensure that all purchasing activity is carried out in line within legal, regulatory and compliance obligations
  • Develop team individual team members capability, working to identify and support their development needs and requirements
  • Identify savings opportunities through alternative sourcing strategies such as contract re-negotiation, extensions, and aggregation of demand across multiple business areas
  • Develop cost comparison models for use in tender process to ensure that costs are optimised, and process remains transparent
  • Development of the procurement plan for specified category 
  • Develop methods for analysis of comparing the impact on business of different business models based on input from supplier pricing information
  • Providing expert contractual support and advice to project and contract managers in dealing with contractors and suppliers during the post-contract award phase to avoid, mitigate and resolve claims and disputes
  • Lead complex negotiations to resolve contractual disputes including arbitration and adjudication
  • Lead complex strategic tenders for Group requirements for Global commodities and Services to be implemented across the entire Iberdrola Group
  • Provide leadership and development for a team of Procurement professionals responsible for 
    • Management of running tender processes within designated category area
    • Implementation of global contracts into UK business
    • Tendering Group requirements for Global commodities and Services to be implemented across the Group 
    • Provide an initial point of contact for Purchasing process, contractual support and advice for project managers throughout the end-to-end process, including post award disputes
    • Preparation of approval papers and required authorisations from local and global management
    • Negotiation of contractual terms and conditions supported by SP Legal
    • Compliance checks to ensure that awards are only made to suppliers that are fully compliant with internal and external regulations

 

What you'll bring

  • Educated to degree level, ideally in a commercial, technical or procurement discipline or extensive experience
  • Experience of leading large and complex contract negotiations
  • Ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders, including key external suppliers as well as local and global internally
