Job Purpose

 

Through practical application of Business Analysis disciplines, tools and techniques, provide a fit for purpose service that helps implement Operational/digital solutions for its customers in a cost effective way.

 

Job Accountabilities

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Work as part of the Operational Intelligence team to drive through continual change and improvement in the way we deliver change for United Utilities
 

Business Analysis Delivery

 
  • To build a good understanding of the impacted business area(s) in order to ensure the service you provide is fit for purpose.
  •            
  • To build strong working relationships with the project team and impacted business areas in order to understand the outputs needed and to use this insight to build quality outputs.
  •            
  • Has experience and knowledge of a range of business analysis techniques and able to select appropriate techniques for a given situation.
  •            
  • Work as a project team member to identify appropriate solutions (including technology solutions)
  •            
  • Work as project team member to help implement change solutions for customer in a cost-effective way, by managing the requirements lifecycle, from determining the requirements of a project or programme through to testing.
  •            
  • Work effectively with SME's to help define their requirements, prioritising features according to business value, and answering team questions.
  •            
  • Work closely with the testers or the technical team to ensure products are robustly tested before entering production.
  •            
  • Develop, creates and updates critical project documentation for the impacted business areas so that the business can understand the impact to their people, process, systems and data. This could include outputs such as process maps, impact assessments, gap analysis, business models, user stories, use cases, options appraisal, feasibility study, Functional Specifications, Non Functional Specifications etc
 

Knowledge and Skills

 

Skills, qualifications and experience:

 
  • Working towards a recognised Business Analysis professional qualification, such as BCS Diploma in Business Analysis, IIBA or ISEB) with evidence of its practical application in the workplace.
  •            
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the relevant discipline.
  •            
  • A good understanding of business process, requirements lifecycle and the contribution of components (systems, policies, protocols, behaviours, etc.) to the overall performance of the business function.
  •            
  • Knowledge of a range of business analysis techniques and able to select appropriate techniques for a given situation
  •            
  • Able to work across a range of business areas and functions
  •            
  • Confident leading and facilitating workshops with a range of stakeholders and levels.
  •            
  • Evaluates and impact assess the financial, cultural, technological, organisational and environmental factors which must be addressed in the change
  •            
  • Has a working knowledge of project management techniques, sufficient to define and manage activities to report progress and co-ordinate activities.
  •            
  • Attained (or willing to attain) the APM Introduction qualification.
