Job Description

The purpose of the Brand and Content Manager is to shape and communicate Affinity Water's brand image, messaging and narrative to our customers, developing a consistent brand identity and strategy. Your creative approach will help shape our brand and drive awareness. You'll use your content and editorial skills to inform and educate our customers and your organisational abilities to ensure we have a full calendar of activity.

You'll be full of fresh ideas to shape the future of the brand - through innovative strategies and brand initiatives (or campaigns). You'll ensure our brand identity is promoted, protected and presented correctly.

You'll drive the overall content plan and ensure content is planned, scheduled, and created within agreed timelines.

Principal accountabilities

As our Brand and Content Manager, you'll be planning, scripting, creating and managing content. The ideal candidate will have an eye for design, technical abilities to bring ideas this to life and copywriting skills to stand-out, drive engagement or to influence behaviour change.

You'll work to develop and execute our brand and content strategy. You'll own our content calendar within the team but work with others, having a collective responsibility for its frequent updates, planning and scheduling.

You'll be accountable for our content production. Work with our Campaigns team to ensure our agency partners are following our brand guidelines, guidance and regulation.

You'll also be analysing the performance of the brand, content and reporting on the results. You'll be naturally customer-focussed and keep this at the heart of everything you do. You'll adhere to all regulatory requirements and promote inclusive by design thinking and implementation across our brand and any content produced.

Typically, you'll be responsible for:

  • Management our brand assets, brand identity and strategy. Managing Affinity Water's brand assets, identity, tone of voice, messaging styles, and design guidelines ensuring all content is on brand and regulatory compliant.
  • Organising and attending brand photoshoots.
  • Developing content for publishing including, but not limited to infographics, podcasts, videos, social content, and webinars as well as creating written content for marketing channels (webpages, blog articles, email, newsletters).
  • Collaborating across functions to deliver an effective content marketing strategy and editorial plan to meet overall the business objectives.
  • Creating engaging and compelling content that resonates with our audience and aligns with our brand voice, including engaging copy, appealing visuals, and persuasive calls to action.
  • Responsible for setting the future strategy of the brand, its image and identity.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our customer segments and personas, as well as using customer insights to drive brand equity through the delivery of content projects.
  • Manage an effective briefing process for brand support or content asks internally. Prioritise, schedule and set expectations on delivery.
  • Mentor, develop and coach your team consisting of a Brand & Content Executive and Digital Graphic Designer.
  • Monitor the performance of a brand through key performance indicators (KPI), working closely with the Research & Insights team to measure brand awareness.
  • Help to grow the brand's affiliations and partnerships. Support at company events when required.
  • You'll also be required to be part of our fast-fire reactive crisis comms team on standby out of hours, working on a rota basis. With water being a 24/7 utility, we operate an emergency service which can result in water supply incidents particularly during hot weather spells and winter freeze and thaws.
Experience required:

  • +3 years brand management experience.
  • 3+ years' experience in crafting tone of voice, brand guidelines and managing content calendars.
  • Good working knowledge of video production and editing techniques.
  • In-depth understanding and experience of developing and delivery on brand strategies.
  • Project management skills and understanding how to manage the priorities of multiple stakeholders with focus on the delivery.

  • Salary: £38,000 - 42,000 (dependent on skills and experience).
  • Hybrid role, with the expectations of a minimum two days a week in the office.
