Job Title - BAE Systems Apprentice

Location - Veolia, Barrow-in-Furness LA14 1AF

Hours - Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Closing Date - Sunday 28th February 2021.

Apprenticeship programme 

During this 2 -year programme, we will help you to develop your practical skills and knowledge required for you to succeed in this role as well as your future career. Throughout this programme, you will continue to develop your behaviours such as team working, problem-solving and customer focus. Veolia as a business is not only interested in what you accomplish, but the manner you do it in. 

 As well as gaining a broad range of technical and professional experience, you’ll also gain academic and vocational qualifications such as a Certificate in Waste Resourcing Operations. 

Key Responsibilities

  •  Operating a Veolia owned forklift truck.
  • Collecting waste from various areas of the site and processing the waste arisings according to type. This involves both the collection of waste in wheelie bins, on a trolley and in drums from around the site.

  • Occasionally operating static in drum press.

  • Completing daily check sheets and relevant defect sheets, as applicable.

  • Assisting with the loading and unloading of waste vehicles.

  • Segregating and sorting waste streams in the waste yard and storage building.

  • Collecting, storing and processing, as applicable, non-routine waste under the instruction of the Veolia Contract Manager and Supervisor.

  • Assisting with waste yard duties, at the discretion of the Contract Manager, within the training capability and ability of the individual.


What is required 

To be eligible for our BAE Systems Submarines Apprenticeship Programme you will need a passion for contemporary environmental issues, and strong motivation for the role. You will also need to meet our entry criteria:

  •  GCSE grade A*- C or grades 4 - 9 (or equivalent) including Maths, English predicted grade
