Job Description

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will report to the Programme Manager and work within the Capital Programme based in our London offices. You will be a permanent employee and receive a competitive salary of £61,723 plus car/allowance and a bonus of 3%. Your main role will be to assist the Programme Manager / Portfolio Manager in delivering large and high-profile projects and connections projects. You will also provide systems expertise, support project approvals and expenditure, organise and attend meetings, prepare reports, manage project risks and opportunities, and ensure safety and quality standards are followed. You will work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, such as supply chain contractors, design team, asset management, connections project manager, programme management office, local authorities, landowners, and leaseholders.

You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills and competencies through a structured career pathway. You will receive formal and on-the-job training from different project support functions and learn the general project management skills required for the Project Manager role in UK Power Networks. After a period of two years, you may be assigned small to medium projects based on your performance and completion of projects. To apply for this position, you should have an engineering discipline and a basic project management qualification to HNC level preferred; ONC or equivalent required. You should also have accreditations like IOSH, SMSTS, ECS, CSCS, NRSWA, First Aid, manual handling, quality management, or demonstrate progress towards them.

You should have work experience in a project delivery capacity within the electricity distribution industry or similar, and exposure to customer - partner management. You should also be willing to learn, progress, and take accountability, and be proficient in the use of Microsoft office applications and Capital Programme's main project control systems.
