Job Description

Our Water Resources and Hydrogeology team, within the Water Resources and Environment Department is responsible for the wellbeing of our water resources by assessing and minimising the impact of our operations on the natural environment. We support compliance with regulatory obligations, undertake monitoring and analysis and liaise with external stakeholders on environmental matters. For this role, you will act as a key member of the Water Resources and Hydrogeology team to undertake environmental monitoring, analysis, interpretation and reporting to support our Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) obligations and a variety of regulatory and operational needs. You will work closely with our Water Quality, Asset Planning, Capital Delivery and Customer Delivery teams and provide support to more junior members of the team.

Responsibilities 

  • Technical support on hydrological and hydrogeological matters 
  • Hydrogeological and hydrological monitoring, analysis, interpretation and reporting
  • Performance assessments of our assets through pumping tests and other analytical methods
  • Liaison with our environmental regulator and other key stakeholders
  • Support to the Water Resources & Environment team including input to planning application assessments, Drought Management Plan & source risk assessments

Requirements 

  • Qualified to BSc level (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline, with practical knowledge in hydrogeology/hydrology 
  • Environmental field monitoring, including groundwater sampling 
  • Awareness of groundwater modelling and its use is desirable
  • Competent in the use of GIS mapping, data analysis and interpretation 
  • An effective and articulate communicator both in written and oral form
  • Strong understanding of geology and Chalk hydrogeology 
  • Experienced at influencing and managing relationships (and managing stakeholder engagement) 
  • Holds full driving licence
