Job Description


We are looking for an Asset Engineer to provide key community performance and design information to the business, use asset data science and hydraulic modelling tools. 

In the role, you will be maintaining and using suite of Business Intelligence tools including hydraulic models and asset performance software. You will be carrying out the administration of the database and data loads to hydraulic models and schematics. You will be providing expert advice to the business, making strategic recommendations to improve water quality and distribution. You will be providing technical justifications for project design, and continual support throughout project lifecycle. You will be carrying out root cause analysis following asset failures and propose production and network changes to effectively mitigate network failures. You will be making strategic recommendations from analysis of network performance and identifying and promoting required infrastructure improvements and production efficiencies.

For one week in every nine, you will also be providing paid for out of hours hydraulic modelling support coverage as part of the Affinity Water Emergency standby team.

    From the ideal candidate, we are looking for:

    • High level of competency in data capture, managing and analysis
    • Advanced MS Office skills, experience using Excel
    • Good knowledge of Visual Basic and SQL
    • Basic knowledge of water network functionality and pumping systems
    • Accuracy of work and ability to follow process
    • Data analysis skills
    • Ability to work with large data sets
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Qualifications suitable for route to chartership eg CIWEM, ICE or IoW (desirable)
    • Full driving licence
