A bit more about the role

As an apprentice assistant property surveyor, you'll learn what goes on behind the scenes to make sure our land and buildings are safe for our employees and the public.

During your five year apprenticeship you'll learn how to keep our buildings maintained and compliant as well as looking after information on our buildings and land holdings. You'll also make sure our rent and rates are paid and collected on time, deal with customer queries and learn how to work with land owners and our legal teams to deliver our capital projects.

If you've got great communication skills, an eye for organisation and are a great problem solver, this apprenticeship could be right up your street.

Successful apprentices will achieve a degree in Surveying and full chartered membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors endorsed by the Institute for Apprenticeships.

During your apprenticeship you'll:

  • Learn how we acquire land and agree compensation to restore land when we have finished our projects
  • Learn how to look after property databases to make sure rent and rates are paid and collected on time
  • Work with our land agents to manage our residential properties, as well as tenants on our rural estate
  • Learn how to manage the facilities management contract which covers our estate and includes offices and buildings on our water and wastewater treatment works
  • Learn how to manage our planned and reactive maintenance programmes and prioritise investment
  • Learn how assets are reviewed and decisions made on their future when they have reached the end of their life. You will work with our sales team to dispose of land and buildings which are no longer required
  • Work with customers, tenants, and other stakeholders externally, as well as a wider variety of teams across the company internally

What we're looking for:

We're looking for someone who's keen to gain hands on experience, develop practical skills and achieve the qualifications needed to really succeed in your role. All that we ask from you is that you're willing to learn, know how to work as part of a team and can manage your time and workload to get things done.

Typically, you'll need either:
  • A minimum of three A2 levels at Grade C or higher (or their equivalent)
  • OR a Level 3 apprenticeship in a construction or property related discipline

What you'll get from us:
  • Rewarding essentials – there's lot of perks to the job, including a starting salary of £13,500 which will increase each year based on performance
