Our Programme

Our two-year programme offers the opportunity for a career in one of three craft trades; Cable Jointing, Fitting or Overhead Lines. 

Upon completion of the Adult Craft Trainee Programme you become a qualified craftsperson in a specific discipline within the power industry. Achieving either:

  • Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering
  • Certificate in Electrical Power Engineering Distribution and Transmission

You will receive a starting salary of £21,591. On completion of your programme you will be classed as a Craftsperson with a starting salary of £25,767.

Role Requirements

You’ll need experience working within an engineering environment (or similar) where health and safety is paramount. You’ll also need a driving licence as you’ll have access to your own van at the end of your training period.

Our Cable Jointers and Fitters need to be able to work within confined spaces.

Overhead Lines trainees need to be comfortable operating at heights.


Selection Process

The selection process for both positions will be:

  • Online Application
  • Online Ability Tests
  • Practical Assessment Centre including Behaviour Based Interview
