Job Description

Are you ready to lead us into the future?

As a Graduate in Scottish Water you’ll be contributing to the success and continued growth of one of Scotland’s most critical businesses.  We believe that everyone has talent and offer tailored learning and development and the opportunity to take ownership of your career, enabling you to reach your full potential. You’ll have the ability to: add value, inspire trust and demonstrate pride in your work to ensure you thrive within our business.

On the Management Graduate Development Programme, which starts in September 2022, you will further develop your skills and expertise to enable you to take on a Leadership or Technical role within our Customer Service Delivery Directorate upon completion of your Programme. Rotational placements will help to broaden your knowledge of the business, giving you valuable insight into how Scottish Water operates. You will have the aspiration, motivation and ability to lead others in the future.

Working in Customer Service Delivery (as part of the Water Operations Team) you will contribute to ensuring that we deliver a great service to our customers and the communities of Scotland. The quality of drinking water and satisfaction with the service we provide our customers has never been higher - but we want to be even better – and you could help play an important part in ensuring that Scottish Water is trusted to care for the water on which Scotland depends.

Within the Water Operations Treatment function, we get involved in Reservoir maintenance and compliance, maintaining water quality, health and safety, process compliance, treatment control and the ongoing running of an array of treatment assets. Additionally, within the Water Operations Network function we get involved in interruptions to supply, customer service, burst repairs and the running of many water networks. We are looking to prepare the individuals to potentially take on a front line Team Leader role after a period of time and gain knowledge and experience within Water Operations.

Each placement during the two-year programme will allow you to challenge yourself and colleagues.  We are looking for Graduates who have the determination to succeed and become our future leaders and experts.

To be successful on this programme you will share our passion for delivering great customer service and be willing to learn and develop themselves in line with the aims of the Programme. Applications from those with STEM (i.e. Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) backgrounds are preferred, although not essential. You will have a minimum 2:2 Honours Degree (or be on track to achieve a 2:2).

You’ll be given the chance to stretch yourself in placements across the business and across Scotland too by being flexible in your thinking and sometimes in your location. We also have a growing international business which means there may even be some fantastic opportunities for you to work on projects abroad.

  • One role in our Water Treatment team based in Inverness (North Region)

  • One role in our Water Treatment team based in Fife (East Region) and

  • One role in our Water Networks team based in the Central Belt covering all of Scotland.
