We are keen to hear from graduates of any discipline with inquisitive, logical minds, a knowledge of basic business, finance, management science and capital investment analysis principles and core skills involve problem solving at any level within Scottish Water.
Our two-year graduate programme will further develop your skills and expertise. As a Specialist Graduate you will be based within the Business & Economics Team within the Strategic Customer Service Planning Directorate. The Business & Economics Team supports Scottish Water in business and regulatory decision making, engaging with its regulators and stakeholders, through the undertaking of analysis and project work across a broad range of topics relating to management, transformation, corporate decision making, water and waste water services. The work might involve investment at local site, through to reviews of national charging structure and analysis of key national strategic ambitions such as zero carbon emissions or lead free water supplies.
On our graduate programme you will gain a broad overview of the business, building your knowledge and expertise during rotational placements in key areas such as: water service planning and operations, wastewater service, planning and operations, customer insights and finance as well as business and regulation. This is a particularly interesting time as you will be joining a team at the heart of developing and deploying some of the businesses, transformation for the future. You will help shape your programme - the opportunities, the development and the support will be designed around your interests and future ambitions. This will allow you to gain exposure to specific areas of the business and the challenges facing the industry.
We will enable you to take on a specialist technical role on completion of your programme. On completion of the programme you will work in Business & Economics Team applying your technical and business skills in a corporate, consultancy and regulatory setting.
Placements within a number of key stakeholder teams during your two year programme will allow you to challenge yourself and colleagues as we are looking for Graduates who have the determination to succeed, add value and become our future subject matter experts and leaders. You’ll be given the chance to stretch yourself in placements across the business and across Scotland to, by being flexible in your thinking and sometimes in your location.
The successful candidate must: share our passion for delivering great customer service and have a knowledge of basic business and investment analysis principles. An understanding of water services, waste water services and scientific investigations is not essential but an interest in the water industry and its future and research is. You will have a minimum 2:2 degree (or on track for a 2:2 degree) in a discipline where you have demonstrated strong numerical and technical aptitude alongside a keen interest in business.
